Fr. Grogan of Queen of Apostles in Ruaraka started visiting Njiru in 1970s. A timber and iron sheet chapel was built near the East Africa Leather Company in 1984, with increasing number of Christians, the chapel was moved to a rented room near Kibendi Nursery School. The chairman was Mr. Jospeh Mbai. The chapel upgraded to a church status in 1986. Mr. Njoroge became the chairman 1978- 1993.

In 1987, baptism ceremony was held for the first time. In the same year, we were blessed to have Mr. John Waweru and family who donated a plot free of charge. Christians decided to contribute towards building of a chapel, in donated plot. Later on the chapel was demolished and a bigger hall was built using contributions from Christians. Fundraising was held and Kshs. 70000 raised. Another one was held and raised kshs. 300000. During the first period St. Vincent was under Kayole Parish, then later on became under Ruai parish. Mr. Stephen Githuka became chairman 1994- 1997, whereby he left and Mr. Francis Njoroge became chairman once again.

Priests who served in this church include; Fr. Adam, Fr. Virginio, Fr. Rudy, Fr. Pablo, Fr. Albert, Fr. Augustine, Fr. Tony and Fr. Jude.

His Grace Archbishop Raphael S. Ndingi Mwana a'Nzeki requested Rev. Fr. Meso the Provisional of Africa and Rev. Fr. Luke his delegate in East Africa to develop this area into a a parish.

In November 18th 2001, St. Vincent became St. Monica Parish Rev. Fr. Kabila Protais assisted by Rev. Fr. Katembo Claude started the new parish. Brothers Peter and Simon who left for Emmanuel house for studies helped them.

Srs. Lucy and Tarcisia of Coleigne Holy Family sisters and the Parish Pastoral Council in which Mr. Robert Macharia Kuria is the first parish chairman also assisted them.

St . Monica Parish has 5 outstations namely; Blessed Josphat Njiru, St. Michael Saika, St. Stephen Maili Saba, St. John The Baptist Katua and St. Rita Chokaa. It comprises of 66 small Christian communities with the current Parish Moderator Mr. Samuel Nyakundi.
