At Blessed Pavel, we are passionate about early childhood development and our Kindergarten (Playgroup to Pre-Primary 2) admits children from 2.5 to 6 years. Playtime forms a significant part of our learning in Kindergarten because we understand how crucial it is in nurturing well rounded and adjusted children.

Having play as a central part of learning helps children develop physical, cognitive, and social skills and improves their language. Our Early Years of Education is aligned to the Kenyan Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) which comprises:

• Language activities
• Mathematical activities
• Environmental activities
• Psychomotor and creative activities
• Pastoral Programme of instruction
• Religious Education Activities (CRE/IRE Activities)

The new CBC curriculum allows St. Jude CPS to further enhance the competencies that are already part of the school aims:

• Critical thinking and problem solving
• Imagination and creativity, Citizenship
• Learning to learn
• Self-efficacy
• Digital Literacy

Pre-Primary

PP1

The Bellevue PP1 admits children who have successfully completed the Reception class or the child is of 3-4 years of age.

It takes full academic year to be accomplished.

After successful completion, the child is promoted to PP2 level.

Children report from 8.am to 3.00 pm on week days.

PP2

The Bellevue Pre-unit admits kids who have successfully completed the PP1 level or the child is of 4-6 years of age.

It takes a full academic year to be accomplished.

After successful completion, the child is promoted to Primary level.

Children report from 7.00 a.m to 3.00 p.m on weekdays.

For our lower primary (Grade 1-3), we have incorporated e-learning extensively as part of our plan to develop leaders that are versatile and agile in environments that are changing quickly and unpredictably. We believe that a conversance with technology aids students in their learning by opening them up to more innovative ways of thinking, learning, and executing what they learn.

The academic program is organized on a block schedule as outlined in the Competence Based Curriculum (CBC). Twelve learning areas are allocated across a well-planned timetable which ensures a range of activities are learned each day. The learning areas are:

• Mathematics activities
• English language activities
• Literacy activities
• Kiswahili activities
• Environmental Activities
• Hygiene and Nutrition
• Religious activities Christian or Islamic Religious Activity(CRE or IRE)
• Movement and Creative Activities (PE lesson (s), art, music and craft)
• French Activities
• Computer studies (ICT)
• Handwriting
• PPI (Pastoral Instruction)
• Library lesson
• Story telling

Assemblies are conducted on Monday and Friday; class meetings are conducted every Wednesday and Pastoral sessions on Tuesday with Mass happening on Thursdays.

The academic year runs from January to November with two short holidays in April and August. The November and December holiday are the longest. This is in line with the school calendar as advised by the Ministry of Education. The beginning of an academic year in January signifies transition to a new grade.

Our upper primary school is a blend of the Kenyan Competency Based Curriculum in Grade 4 and the 8.4.4 curriculum from class 5 to class 8.

In the Upper Primary we ensure that they are keen on good academic performance but have the opportunity to equally excel in co-curricular and enrichment activities.

Requirements to Join Upper primary at Blessed Pavel School

The upper Primary doesn’t have much requirements especially if the child initially started with us from pre-school. However for anyone joining from another school, we would require to fulfill some of the Lower Primary requirements.

The child needs however to have the required uniforms, pay tuition fees required prior to admission and has excelled in previous levels of education especially the lower primary.
